Event organiser Thabo Tau, popularly known as Thizozo, is set to host the annual Let’s Touch Your Soul event on April 20th, in partnership with Mukuru, Nedbank, and Brutal Fruit.
This soulful R&B and gospel-themed event is specially curated for middle-aged audiences, offering a relaxing and stylish escape from the everyday hustle of work and family life.
“I noticed a gap in the entertainment industry, especially for middle-aged people who are constantly busy with work and business commitments,” said Thizozo. “So, I felt the need to create an event that gives people a chance to step away from their routines and just enjoy themselves.”
Raised in a Catholic family and nurtured by gospel music from a young age, Thizozo explained that his deep connection to soul and gospel music shaped the essence of the event.
“This event is about healing – that’s why it’s called Let’s Touch Your Soul. It’s meant to offer a therapeutic experience, especially for those who may be going through depression or emotional distress,” he said.
In an interview with theReporter, Thizozo shared that this year’s edition will feature artist Loyiso, whose music, he believes, truly resonates with people’s hearts.
“I always strive to offer something unique every year. This time, I’ve also changed the theme to include more gospel music.”
Thizozo is intentional in curating his line-up, selecting artists that align with his target audience and can foster emotional connections with attendees.
“It’s not just about entertainment – it’s about creating a transformative experience that touches the soul and builds a sense of community,” he noted.
However, organising the event doesn’t come without its challenges.
“Funding remains a major hurdle, as it directly affects the scale and quality of the event. Finding the perfect venue is also difficult – it has to meet both logistical and aesthetic needs,” he explained.
Weather is another unpredictable factor. “Rain can ruin everything, even after weeks of preparation. That’s why I’m now looking at venues with better contingency plans and actively seeking sponsorships to strengthen my budget.”
Despite the obstacles, Thizozo is determined to deliver an unforgettable experience. “I’m committed to ensuring that each edition of Let’s Touch Your Soul is not just memorable, but meaningful,” he added.
