ReNOKA launches branded blankets in partnership with Aranda

ReNOKA, in collaboration with Aranda, has announced the launch of One Blanket Shared Actions — a new initiative centred around the commercial production of ReNOKA-branded blankets.

In a statement, the coordinator of the National Integrated Catchment Management Coordination Unit (NICM), Makomoreng Fanana, said the blankets serve as a symbol of unity and environmental stewardship.

A portion of the proceeds from blanket sales will support community-led projects aimed at restoring degraded land and water resources. These efforts are aligned with Lesotho’s integrated catchment management strategy and the principles of Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES).

The partnership demonstrates a practical mechanism to reward communities for their role in protecting natural ecosystems – an approach that ReNOKA plans to further explore through its Nature-based Solutions (NbS) programme.

The launch event on Thursday this week will also serve as a platform to present key outcomes from the initiative, bringing together participants from diverse sectors to collaboratively develop innovative NbS to address Lesotho’s water and catchment management challenges.

In addition, the event will highlight the cultural significance of the blanket design, the inspiration behind it, and how local communities will be actively involved in implementation efforts. It will also showcase outcomes from the recent Hackathon, demonstrating how cross-sector collaboration can translate Nature-based Solutions into concrete, actionable results.
