Road Fund to hand over traffic justice system to judiciary

The Road Fund will hand over an Automated Traffic Justice System (ATJS) to the judiciary to boost its operations.

The system is aimed at improving workflow between institutions that deal with traffic offenses resulting from contraventions of road traffic laws. It cost about M25 Million.

The Road Fund says the ATJS, which is also a development extension on the eSpot fine, whichwas only operated within the jurisdictions of the Lesotho Mounted Police

Service, breaks the silo and traditional way ofdealing with traffic offences manually.

“It is an integrated system that emanates from the LMPS’ eSpot fine, goes to prosecution and all the way to the courts of law, until the offender isconvicted and the case is closed accordingly,” the organisation said in a statement today.

It further noted that the ATJS commenced in 2021, with sensitisation and training for system users around the country.

The system was fully-funded by the Road Fund and implemented in collaboration with the LMPS, the Directorate of Public Prosecution and the judiciary as the primary beneficiary of the system.
