Maseru District Hospital suspends eye specialist

Maseru District Hospital has suspended Dr. Wenjun Fan, the only eye specialist at the institution, for three months with immediate effect, on allegations of leaking confidential information to the media.

Dr Fan will remain on full salary for three months, until January 24, 2026.

In a letter dated 24 October 2025 to Dr Fan, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Health,’Maneo Ntene, said the suspension will remain in place until an investigation has been completed or the eye specialist is formally advised otherwise by the ministry.

“Please note that this suspension is a precautionary measure and does not constitute disciplinary action. Your employment remains in full effect and you will continue to receive your salary during this period,” Ntene noted.
