Lesotho committed to building resilient health system

The government has hailed the second Joint External Evaluation (JEE) which ended in Maseru yesterday for identifying gaps that need to be addressed in the country’s health system.

Deputy PS of the Ministry of Health, Matšoanelo Monyobi, told delegates that Lesotho is committed to building a resilient system and the external evaluators’ recommendations during the five-day workshop would help the country in strengthening its sector.

“Together, we can build a healthier Lesotho for generations to come,” she noted in her closing remarks.

JEE is a voluntary process under the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005), offering a structured, evidence-based assessment of countries’ capacity to prevent, detect and respond to health threats or other emergencies.

Beyond local expertise, the evaluation leverages international peer learning, fostering transparency, mutual accountability and shared progress.
