EU celebrates inclusive energy access

The European Union will on Thursday this week hold a rollout event at Itekeng Combined School, Pitseng in Thaba Tseka, to celebrate concrete progress in advancing clean, inclusive energy access in Lesotho.

The school is one of eight facilities newly electrified under the Access to Affordable Renewable Energy (AARE) programme, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme with EU funding and support from the Government of Ireland.

AARE is a component of the Renewable Lesotho Programme, a national effort to unlock clean energy opportunities, expand equitable access, and support gender-responsive development across rural and peri-urban communities.

In a recent statement, the EU said the event will showcase concrete achievements from the initial year of implementation and highlight Lesotho’s trajectory toward universal energy access, climate resilience, and inclusive growth.
