Mokoko fights back

Axed Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) Commissioner General, ‘Mathabo Mokoko, has approached the Labour Court to contest her dismissal with immediate effect yesterday.

In her court papers filed soon after she was fired, Mokoko says she wants the RSL and its board, who are the respondents in the matter, restrained and interdicted from dismissing or threatening to dismiss her pending the outcome of her application.

Mokoko argues that the RSL and its board cannot dismiss her without following the due process of a disciplinary hearing required by the contract of employment.

She also prays that the respondents be directed to pay costs of the application

In a statement yesterday afternoon, the RSL board said it had resolved to terminate Mokoko’scontract following a sitting earlier in the day. The board did not mention any reasons behind its decision.
