Lesotho launches project to boost national statistics

The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, through the Bureau of Statistics (BOS), will tomorrow launch the Equitable Lesotho Project.

According to a statement from the ministry, the government is implementing a statistical component under the Equitable Programme titled ‘Strengthening the National Statistical System’.

The initiative aims to improve the availability and use of official statistics for evidence‑based policy and planning in Lesotho. It also seeks to enhance the country’s capacity for informed decision‑making and development planning. The launch will be followed by the first steering committee meeting of the Equitable Lesotho Project.

The project is funded by the European Union and receives technical support from the Institut National de la Statistique et des Études Économiques.
