Lesotho’s proposed Digital Roadmap is expected to help local artists access global creative markets and create sustainable employment, Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture MputiStephen Mputi has said.
Speaking during a review of the Draft Cultural Policy and Arts and Culture Digital Roadmap yesterday, Mputi called for investment from the private sector, financial institutions and development partners to reduce poverty.
UNESCO expert David Waweru highlighted challenges facing creatives, including weak intellectual property protection, limited market access and low revenues.
He said inadequate contracts and registration left creators vulnerable to exploitation and unauthorised use of their work.
