Nteso killers to be sentenced in January

By Staff Reporter

The two police constables who have been convicted for the murder of the former Lesotho Electricity Company (LEC) head of internal audit, Thibello Nteso, will be sentenced on January 13 2021.

Moeketsi Dlamini and Monaheng ‘Musi were last week found guilty of the 2017 murder by High Court judge, Justice Moroke Mokhesi. The court also found them guilty of malicious damage of the deceased’s vehicle, which they riddled with bullet holes during the attack.

Nteso was gunned down in the vicinity of former Police Commissioner Molahlehi Letsoepa’s residence at Maseru West on February 6, 2017. He was murdered shortly after presenting preliminary findings of a forensic audit, which showed that more M170 million had been embezzled from LEC.

They were members of the Lesotho Mounted Police Service’s Special Operations Unit (SOU) and were on guard duties at Letsoepa’s residence when the incident occurred.

Letsoepa fled the country after the May 2017 general elections which saw the Pakalitha Mosisili-led government booted out of office in a snap election that followed a successful parliamentary vote of no confidence.
