Varsity life acted out

By Neo Kolane

Albijay Media has produced a series titled Exposѐ, which portrays life at the National University of Lesotho, in response to many youth’s curiosity and fascination with varsity life.

Exposѐ is a series that talks about the life if National University of Lesotho (NUL) beyond academics. It entails everything that happens outside of the classroom that might however affect the performance of the student.

Albiijay Media is a growing company that is pioneered by Amohelang Thoabala, Thejane Thejane and Bahlakoana Chokocha. It is a company of photography, video graphics and music production.

Speaking to theReporter, the director and writer of the documentation, Thoabala, said the documentation came because they wanted to entertain people and also expose the extra-curricular campus life of many students at NUL and how it affects their overall performance in their academics.

“It is also a way of giving theatre students an opportunity to put to practice all things that they learn,” Thoabala said.

Thoabala added that the series focuses on NUL because there was this pressure from people wanting to know things that happen at NUL and beyond its surface. He says the series will inspire and teach the generations that will enroll in the university so that they don’t make the mistakes made by their predecessors.

“Exposѐ will be currently aired on Facebook and YouTube; we have not finalized the Lesotho Television broadcast but it seems promising,” he stated.

Matlere Matete plays the role of Paul in the series, and he says this was his first experience as an actor and he found it very good.

An actor by profession, Matete said it was an awesome experience because there was no pressure. The producers were not stereotyped, they shared ideas with the actors.

Matete, who studied theatre and drama, said he has worked with Amohelang before, hence his invitation to take part in the project. He then brought different actors on board.

“People should expect to be wowed, it is a good series to watch,” he said.
