Nacosec evicted from Avani

By Majirata Latela

theReporter can confirm that the National Covid19 Secretariat (Nacosec) has been evicted from Maseru Avani hotel where it has been operating from.

A source close to the proceedings on Monday revealed that it’s been months since Nacosec was warned by Avani that if would be evicted if it does not pay due rental, and that has finally happened. The source says the secretariat has not been operating from its rented space since last month.

The source said that Nacosec owes eight months’ worth of rent. Nacosec moved to Avani offices last year in August.

This publication approached Nacosec’s risk communications manager, Baroane Phenethi, who said he was not in a position to comment as he had only seen the news on social media and had not received official communication to that effect.

Phenethi said Nacosec was due to meet with cabinet later on Monday and promised to get back to us after the meeting.
