Revised JC, LGCSE timetables out

By Kefiloe Kajane

The Junior Certificate (JC) and Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education (LGCSE) end of year external examinations will start on February 22 and end on March 31, according to revised timetables released this week.

LGCSE students will start with Geography Paper 2 while JC students will start with Sesotho Paper 1.

This after the examinations were postponed last month due to the nationwide lockdown which started on January 14 and ended on February 3.

According to a statement from the ministry, “Since the examinations will proceed amid the Covid-19 pandemic, all are encouraged to follow the World Health Organization’s safety protocols.

“This means schools and school boards will have to make sure to clean and disinfect all classrooms that will be used for examinations. We still appeal to parents to buy masks for the students as it is now mandatory for everyone to have a mask.

“Students are encouraged to continue to study hard in preparation for the upcoming examinations. We hope parents and guardians will continue to support students as they prepare to write their examinations,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, JC student ‘Mampoi Selebalo has told this publication she was looking forward to the impending examinations and she hopes they do not get postponed at the eleventh hour.

She said it has been difficult studying without knowing when they are going to write, and fears the examinations might be postponed again due to another lockdown, resulting in the exams going ahead as late as next year.
