Letśeng Diamonds has announced the appointment of two Lesotho nationals to senior executive roles within the company.

Motooane Thinyane has been appointed head of operations and ‘Makhomo Motaung head of finance. Both will take their new positions in April 2021.

Their appointment reflects Letśeng’s commitment to the development of local talent within the company.

The chief executive officer of Letśeng, Kelebone Leisanyane said that he is very happy to report that with the appointment of Thinyane and ‘Makhomo, the entire management of Letśeng is now made up of Basotho.

A statement issued on Monday says Thinyane is a mechanical engineer and engineering management professional with over 20 years of experience. “Before joining Letšeng in March 2015 as Engineering Manager, Mr Thinyane worked for the Water and Sewerage Authority as maintenance engineer, plant manager and corporate planner. For her part, ‘Makhomo Motaung is a chartered accountant with over 15 years of extensive professional accounting experience. She joined Letšeng Diamonds in 2011 as a financial accountant. In 2014, she was promoted to the position of financial manager, a position she held until March 2020 when she was appointed the chief financial officer.

The statement also added that Motaung obtained her first degree in economics and accounting from the National University of Lesotho in 1999 and bachelor of commerce from the University of Cape Town in 2002.
