Operating hours at the border gates extended

By Neo Kolane

The minister of Home Affairs, Motlalentoa Letsosa has authorized extension of border operating hours due to the Easter holidays.

“We all know that during the Easter period, most of the movements are for tourism and religious purposes. This means there is always a huge volume of travellers at the border gates, especially Maseru and Ficksburg.

“The extension is for peak days with the existing COVID-19 regulations, that impose movement restrictions between 10:00pm and 5:00am. All managers at health portals are directed to scan and endorse passports of Basotho who will be entering through the ports between 10:00pm and 5:00am to show that they have been permitted movement from the borders to their respective destinations/homes.

The Maseru and Ficksburg border gates are known mostly to carry commercial or business traffic and are referred as the busiest.
