Expo to unite fashion works

By Neo Kolane

Fashion and Lifestyle Kloset, an event aimed at boosting the economy and bringing back the spirit of fashion in the country will be hosted in May.

The event will showcase the fashion lifestyle of a beauty queen and is set to attract people who adhere to the works of fashion.

The event’s organizer, Thato Fonya, says the show will be the first of its kind after many initiatives such as fashion works by NALA, MSU MARKET and SHIPA.

Fonya observed that there is Lesotho Fashion Week at which designers’ boutiques display their fashion creations. It is at these shows that exhibitions are staged, with people admiring various works.

As a fashion activist, Fonya told theReporter that the industry of fashion, beauty and lifestyle has been on its lowest ebb due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has struck the world since its emergence in December 2019.

Fonya realized that it was up to the artists and designers to revive the industry so as it would attract fashion lovers.

“We are trying to gain benefits from ticket sales of which a 15 percent amount will be invested in fashion design materials while the remainder of the money is to be shared among the artists,” Fonya said.

According to him, fashion artists are to set aside some funds in order to sponsor their social media pages as a marketing tool.

“We expect the sponsors who will contribute hangers, rails and the red carpet in order to bring in glamour to fashion and lifestyle events.

“We are also hoping for sponsors to contribute cash for logistical issues, paying backstage presenters, and the master of ceremony as well as the ushers.

“Those who attend the shows should expect glamour and beauty. They should expect fun while admiring artistic works,” Fonya concluded.
