Victoria Poolside will be filled to the brim on Sunday from 11:00am to 8:00pm when the amapiano pioneer Mr JazziQ, will be keeping revelers on their toes.
Amapiano is a style of house music that emerged in South Africa in 2020. Amapiano is a hybrid of deep house, jazz and lounge music characterized by synths, airy pads and wide and percussive bassline.
In an interview with theReporter, one of the organisers, Kopano Alotsi stated that amapiano picnic is a paying gig in a form of picnic that is mainly about the genre of amapiano even though the lineup consists of Hip-Hop and a bit of Naijah.
Known by his stage name, Kopper explained that there are many amapiano artists but in the last three months, Mr JazziQ is the one person who seems to have been trending compared to others. His recently released album seems to be doing quite well really.
Alexandra-born, Tumelo Manyoni first emerged as one-half of South African Amapiano DJ/producer and, JazzDisciples which released a slate of projects that found their footing on the dancefloor and on streaming platforms.
In 2020, he broke out as a solo artist, releasing his debut EP, 0303, which currently has over 3 million streams and includes hit track, “Askies” featuring Moonchild Sanelly.
Mr JazziQ is widely considered an Amapiano pioneer, through his own label, Black is Brown, and is poised to take the genre globally.
“Hence we thought it would the right person to come to our shores as far as amapiano is concerned,”Kopper stated.
JazziQ is a producer, a dj and an entertainer as well and as far as production is concerned, he qualifies to be that good.
Kopper is known for playing Naijah but he is also a promoter, he runs an events management company called Big Events.
Kopper is working with Mekonko as his partner. He is also working with Vibes production ink.
He also thought of FLAVA entertainment saying that they “are partners with Victoria Poolside.”
The event will also feature dj’s like Afrodeejay, Bootz, Dimo, Kopper, Toxique.
Ebonics, Khebza, Kuna, Black Bee, Trybz and Konsept will also be on the lineup.
