Phafane appointed to FIFA committee

Lesotho Football Association (Lefa) president Salemane Phafane has been appointed to serve on world football governing body’s (Fifa) Disciplinary Committee.

The Lefa boss was appointed at Fifa’s 71st Congress which was held virtually on May 21.

Phafane’s journey in football started many decades ago at Bantu Football Club where he served, among others, as the Bantu Football Club’s Secretary General. He then joined the Lesotho Football Association as an NEC member rising to the LeFA Secretary General and then Vice President and ultimately the LeFA President.

He has also served on a number of FIFA Sub-Committees including the Legal Committee, Member Associations Committee and the Organizing Committee for the FIFA u20 World Cup.

At the Confederation of African Football, he has served in the Women Football Committee and Legal Committee, while at COSAFA Phafane served as the Vice President and is an Honorary Vice President and the Chairperson of the COSAFA Appeals Committee.

Before he became LeFA president, Phafane joined the association as a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC), rising to become LeFA Secretary General then the vice president, until ultimately when he became the association’s president.
