Artist releases steamy album

By Neo Kolane

Twenty-nine-year old Thaabe Lelosa has announced his return to the music scene by releasing a new afro jazz sound album titled ‘BANA BA THARI’.

Known by his stage name, Thari-Ea-Tsheepe, he said that the coming record is a follow-up to his 2015 self-titled EP and is set to be launched in August 2021.

Along with the album announcement, July 20 also marked the release of the first single from the album, “Phato” premiering exclusively via air-play.

Thari-Ea-Tsheepe deems himself the legitimate heir of the “Lithōko” tribe, a passionate artist with appraisal poetry uniquely infused in AfroJazz music, a culture-driven style.

The founder of BANA BA THARI, a group of girls that dance in Basotho culture said that he recorded all of BANA BA THARI album tracks in BK’s studio in Maseru with engineer Koetle.

Thari-Ea-Tsheepe works with SaMoqhRa as his producer.  The album features musical giants such as Tlali-Mothoana, Thaathe, and famous female, Mosimoli. The base guitarist, Mega, proved his skill on songs like Phato, Litau and Lesotho.

BANA BA THARI is composed of 10 tracks that Thari-Ea-Tsheepe wrote over just one month. Throughout this new album, his relaxing chill out appraisal poetry style remains present yet matured with a more refined worldview.

Having successfully completed the album, Thari-Ea-Tsheepe and his team will now sell the album through flash-drives encrypted to be non-rewritable. This is because we now live in the modern world where Cassette Discs are slowly fading away.

“Truly, we didn’t expect the whole album to turn so well, especially having in mind that we have been recording it in the midst of COVID-19.

“The new songs are inspired by some great life-changing events in my life, including a glimpse to my past and my real roots.

“And while each song varies in tone, they all are originals and circle back to one universal theme. BANA BA THARI is a poetry-filled, catchy collection of reminders that our cultural roots, love, harmony, diversity and unity can co-exist in our modern world”, Thari-Ea-Tsheepe said.

Thari-Ea-Tsheepe’s producer SaMoqhRa has high hopes for the success of this album. He said: “The new album is so fascinating. The word that describes it best is unique. Listeners will find it perfect for cultural purposes and heritage.”
