Lesotho Express, Frazer Solar at war

The newly established publication Lesotho Express has come under fire with the company Frazer Solar after the website wrote a series of articles about regarding a failed deal with the government of Lesotho for supply of solar power.

Frazer Solar had claimed it was involved in a project to the tune of about M850 million for energy supply in Lesotho in a bogged deal signed by former minister in the prime minister’s office Temeki Tsolo.

Lesotho Express had reported that Frazer Solar at the time the deal was allegedly signed was not legally registered.

In the latest developments Frazer Solar expressed its deep concern about the accuracy, impartiality and reporting standards…by shadowy new entrant in Lesotho’s media landscape, Lesotho Express.

Jerome Hasler of SFA on behalf of Frazer released a statement accusing the website of displaying blatant preoccupation of attacking “our legal case and its reporting is riddled with factual inaccuracies clearly calculated to deceive the readers.”

He said the website was masquerading as a legitimate new entity, suggesting that whoever is behind the publication “is peddling fake news.” The company refuted any allegations made against it by the publication, saying it supported free press in Lesotho.

On the other hand, the Lesotho Express editor Nthakoana Ngatane assured Frazer Solar that the website is an independent publication neither related to, supported by or supports the government of Lesotho.

She hoped Frazer Solar and its lawyers would respond to allegations that it has reported as well as requests for answers to allegations that it eventually published.
