The love for house music seems to be growing in Lesotho despite many deejays embracing the amapiano genre which is taking a number of entertainment fans by storm.
Two up and coming deejays, Raymond Brown and Lebohang Mphoso are slowly making a name for themselves in the house music circles.
Their burning determined is to let the sky be the limit for them.
The duo that refers to themselves as Coup d’état joined forces in December 2020 after playing a back to back collaboration that left the revelers in awe.
Before that they worked as solos.
Speaking with theReporter recently, Brown stated: “We are a dynamic duo sort of a band-type as we also add some instruments during our performances. We produce, play and perform different styles of house music which include afro, melodic, afro tech and tech house and this is one thing that differentiates us from some house music deejays.”
Brown, also known as FrixiDaxoul, said despite the short period of time they have been working together and faced with a number of challenges, they managed to produce an album titled Utopia Jumboree which they expect to officially release next year.
Asked what some of the challenges they faced are, he said that “gatekeeping of new emerging artists within the industry by established artists and events promoters has not made our journey easy at all. But we are determined to ensure that we overcome all challenges.”
Coup d’état has also gained residence at Sky Alpha HD over a series of a whole season in the past and occasionally played at Bokamoso FM.
Among some of their performances this festive season, the duo will be at Kimberlite Park in Butha-Buthe and Club Ether in Maseru.
