SLB extends bursary application deadline

By Seleoe Nonyane

Standard Lesotho bank has agreed to extend applications for the bursary fund cutoff date to January 21,2022. This after, the bank received fewer applications than expected.

Standard Lesotho Bank acting head of marketing Manyathela Kheleli, said they were dissatisfied with the number of applications the bank received hence the decision to extend the deadline.

“After the bursary fund deadline, which was initially on January 14, 2022 we only received fewer applications than we had anticipated. The bank then saw it fit to extend the applications deadline in order to give those who did not apply another opportunity to do so.

“This bank will not accept any applications beyond the new deadline as it would not make any sense to award the applicants towards the end of the year as schools have reopened; we plan to start with them at the beginning of this academic year.” Kheleli said.

The fund is intended to assist 50 academically gifted students from less privileged backgrounds for them to acquire a better education.

Only secondary and high school learners are eligible for the fund and the bursary is free and open to both girls and boys.

Applications can be delivered at any Standard Bank Lesotho branch countywide or emailed to slbbursaries@stanbic.com.

Application requirements entail a letter of application, certified identity document, and recent academic report. A school testimonial and proof of parent or guardian’s income is also required.
