Mine reaches to the vulnerable, again

By Neo Kolane

Letṧeng Diamond Mine raised M340 000 from the annual golf classic which took place this past Friday at the Maseru gold club grounds.

The corporate social responsibility investment administrator of Letṧeng Diamond Mine, Tṧepo Hlojeng told theReporter that the Annual Golf Classic has two objectives, a day filled with fun and for the sister corporates to contribute towards charity.

Hlojeng said after the revenue is collected from the event, the mine sits down with the Mokhotlong authorities – councillors, DA and chiefs to decide on a project that will make an immediate impact.

“The intention is to support vulnerable groups in the Mokhotlong district. Another guiding tool we use is the community needs analysis which was undertaken, whereby the community members table their needs, which are then incorporated into a response strategy,” Hlojeng said.

He also said the mine supports projects that focus on improving the quality of life of the communities living around the mining area, while also ensuring the sustainability of such projects  will outlive the life of the mine.
