Parties gear for tomorrow’s poll

By Staff Reporter

More than 60 political parties are geared for tomorrow’s general poll which kicks-off at 07.00am in the 80 constituencies.

The contesting parties which had campaigned in an attempt to lure the electorate to cast the ballots in their favour will lock horns in the much anticipated poll. This year’s general election is surely believed by many to set up a new stage in the kingdom’s political landscape.

The coming poll has seen a mushrooming of many parties with some of them entering the stage for the first time in history.

Just some 24 hours before the start of ballot casting, parties began removing their bill boards and adverts from the streets, radio stations and social media platforms in compliance with the electoral law.

The observer missions have already begun stern monitoring of the election process just ahead of what is regarded as a big day in Lesotho politics.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has announced over media that polling materials have successfully been distributed to the polling stations and are secure.

At the moment the IEC public relations manager Tuoe Hantsi has informed the general public that it was only the commission mandated to make announcements or notices relating to the election.
