The managing director of Lesotho Postbank, Molefi Leqhaoe, and his marketing team handed over food parcels to the old age home of Mazenod Ha Lekhobanyane on Thursday, as a way of giving back to the community.
Reitumetse Church Project-Kanana is a home which looks after double orphans and elderly people; it was founded by Canadian Nun Gisele Foucrealt who arrived in the country in 1984 and departed in October 2018.

Leqhaoe stated that they are looking forward to having a branch or at least an ATM at Mazenod, to assist the residents, especially the elderly who have to travel to the city to collect their money.
“The bank wishes to contribute to the chicken projects that the home is already running, to enable it attain self-reliance,” Leqhaoe said.
The centre is currently home to 17 old people (15 females and two males). The number dropped from 60 when government introduced the old age pension e few years ago.
According to care-giver, Sister Sylvia Jone, some were taken back to their homes by their families, while others passed on.
One of the current residents of the old age home is 102-year old ‘Mathabiso Mothibeli who hails from Mazenod Ha Nko.
“I was brought to this home by my then chief who decided that I would be safe and well taken care of here,” said Mothibeli, who is one of the first old people to arrive at this home after it opened its doors for the first time in 1984.
