Date set for JC, LGCSE exams

By Kefiloe Kajane

The ministry education and training has announced that the Junior Certificate (JC) and Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education (LGCSE) examinations will be sat from February 22 to March 31.

This after the examinations were postponed last month due to the national lockdown which started on January 14 and ended on February 3.

According to a statement from the ministry, the Examinations Council of Lesotho is expected to set new timetables that will indicate all information regarding the examinations.

Since the examinations will proceed amid of the Covid-19 pandemic, all are encouraged to follow the World Health Organization’s safety protocols.

“This means schools and school boards will have to make sure to clean and disinfect all classrooms that will be used for examinations. We still appeal to parents to buy masks for the students as it is now mandatory for everyone to have a mask.

“Students are encouraged to continue to study hard in preparation for the upcoming examinations. We hope parents and guardians will continue to support students as they prepare to write their examinations,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, JC student ‘Mampoi Selebalo said she is looking forward to the impending examinations and she hopes they do not get postponed at the eleventh hour.

She said it has been difficult studying without knowing when they are going to write, and fears the examinations might be postponed again due to another lockdown, resulting in the exams going ahead as late as next year.
