CBL warns public

By Kefiloe Kajane

The Central Bank of Lesotho (CBL), as the Commissioner of Financial Institutions, on Friday informed members of the public that there are two companies by the names of BAHAESO Holdings (Pty) Ltd and WEOWNOMY Platform Corporation, which are inviting members of the public to invest money, buy shares, or transfer money through their respective schemes.

CBL explained that the two companies promise investors, participants and shareholders lucrative returns upon participation in their platforms.

It stated that the companies require members of the public to deposit money into their respective accounts held with First National Bank South Africa and Vodacom Lesotho (Vodacom M-Pesa).

“The public is warned that these companies are not registered or licensed by the Central Bank of Lesotho to take deposits from members of the public or to invest on behalf of the public. As a result, the public is advised against depositing any monies with these Companies. Should members of the public deposit monies contrary to this warning, there will be no recourse offered by the Central Bank of Lesotho.

“The bank further directs BAHAESO Holdings (Pty) Ltd, WEOWNOMY Platform Corporation, and any person or company that is collecting money from members of the public without a license issued by the Central Bank of Lesotho to cease with immediate effect, failing which strict legal measures will be taken against them,” CBL said.
