Grade 8 and 9 students of Tšakholo High School will temporarily close learning due to suspected cases of Covid-10 from today.
The deputy principal of the school Nkone Mapitsi says the school was advised by the department of health to consider sending home students in those grades for quarantine following a contraction of the coronavirus.
He said the department of health visited the school last week to carry on tests which discovered that an undisclosed number of students were positive. They were then released to go home for self-isolation.
He added that the COVID-19 cases did not seem to decline this week, but were increasing among the learners in the two grades, forcing the school to send all of them home to isolate for 14 days as a measure to prevent further infections.
However, he could not disclose the number of learners who have contracted the deadly virus.
No teachers tested positive at the school yet.
The school has appealed to the parents and guardians of students in those two grades to collect their children today.
