Vaccination proceeding smoothly in Leribe: DA

By Teboho Serutla

The District Administrator of Leribe, Mohlophehi Mohobelo, says vaccination against COVID-19 in the district is proceeding smoothly without any major glitches.

Mohobelo told theReporter on Monday that there are facilities such as clinics and hospitals that have been designated for vaccination, and that many people have come forward to receive the Covid shots.

He said many of the people that come for vaccination are those with chronic conditions such as blood pressure and more of related.

“There have been reports that five people in the district died after receiving the vaccination. However, post-mortems are being conducted to determine their cause of the deaths and whether they are linked to the vaccine.

“The people here still appreciate the importance of the vaccine despite the ongoing negative conspiracy theories about it. They continue to turn up in large numbers to receive the vaccine shots. Health practitioners have embarked on a campaign to promote public awareness about the vaccine, to ensure people have all the facts before deciding to take jab.”

The vaccination roll-out in Leribe started earlier this month. Leribe is one of the districts hit hardest by the coronavirus.
