Foundation to launch two books

By Neo Kolane

The Bothata Silase Foundation is to launch two books ‘Recoil 2’ and ‘Against all odds’ in the presence of African Law Professor, Patrick Loch Otieno (PLO) Lumumba next month at the ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre in Maseru.

The event is to be known as the Great Launch.

An internationally acclaimed novelist, Bothata Silase told this publication that the theme for the occasion is ‘Lesotho – what now? Way Forward’ and is informed by historical lessons from five erstwhile leaders of Africa; King Moshoeshoe I, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Captain Thomas Sankara, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and Dr John Pombe Magufuli.

Bothata said the sub themes are political reawakening, economic orientation and social cohesion.

Other remarks are expected from dignitaries such as Calvin Motebang, business magnate Sam Matekane, Lesotho Defence Force Deputy Commander Major General Matela Matobakele and Silase himself.

Bothata, who is also the deputy director of PLO Lumumba Foundation, clarified that what is great about this launch is that two books are to be launched at a single one-day event

He told theReporter that “businesses are also welcomed because the lecture will touch on leadership in all spheres.”

He wished that individuals could also attend in order to get a glimpse of some leadership skills.

“We want business oriented people and the rest of Basotho to think deeper about leadership.

“Among other things, we want to enlighten the youth to love their African continent, hence bringing people that are renowned,” he

However, Bothata indicated that this event for the Bothata Silase Foundation is set to be the first to be introduced to the public.

“The foundation started operating this year,” Bothata revealed.

The foundation is envisaged to help vulnerable and orphaned children with basic needs such as school fees, uniform, food and stationery.

Bothata said most of his stories are meant to motivate the youth. It is to educate them that anything is possible as long as one works within the parameters of the law.
