EcoSure Group launched

By Kefiloe Kajane

Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) under its insurance department EcoSure, has introduced a new product package called EcoSure Group underwritten by Lesotho National Insurance Group (LNIG)

This in an effort to cater for societies, churches, village groups, corporates, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) where groups of people assist each other in the event of the death of a member or a dependent.

During a launch of the service this week, EcoSure’s general manager, ‘Matikoe Letsie, said the aim of the package “is to ensure that everyone can access a funeral cover especially now that the country is in danger of the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.

She explained that to register, the group has to have a minimum number of 10 members for eligibility to register. There is no limit to the number of members wishing to form a group and register.

“Members should provide completed and fully signed application forms which are available at all ETL shops. The application forms are EcoSure burial society application form, EcoCash merchant code application form and constitution of the burial society,” she said.

LNIG’s head of operations-life, Maleshoane Phoofolo, urged that members of EcoSure Group can be those aged of 18 to 70 years.

She said application forms are available at all Econet shops and website to register a group for EcoSure Group.

She indicated that the premium to be paid is dependent on the package chosen by the members of the EcoSure burial society.

“Premium collection date is between the first and the 10th of each month. A burial society main member can add dependents on his or her cover.  Premiums are paid via the EcoSure Burial group’s EcoCash merchant wallet.

“The beneficiary for each member should be a family member or anyone that the member chooses as the beneficiary. We would like to explain that group members are not the beneficiaries. We believe with these new products many Basotho are going to have insurance because it is really needed especially during these Covid-19 times,” she said.

She indicated that EcoSure Group is the most affordable insurance catered for Basotho who she believed are to benefit.
