Lesotho’s first taxi-hailing mobile application called Mouvee launched its services in Maseru on Wednesday to enable commuters to call for transport services.
Mouvee is a taxi-hailing mobile app that helps trvellers connect to a driver, when in need of a personal drive from one place to another.
It currently has 20 cabs on board.
Speaking with theReporter, the country manager of Mouvee, Nkopane Makotoane, said the app focuses on providing ease, comfort and safety to both registered passengers and drivers on the platform.
Makotoane explained that the business is partnering with existing cab service operators in the country as means to stream line the highly fragmented space of taxi hailing business in the country.
He said the partnering will happen through digitization, where shareholders can harness and maximize business in the app which will serve as a one stop centre for and passengers to meet their daily trip requests across Maseru.
“Digitalisation has completely changed the way we think and move and public transportation must harness its potential to better serve the needs of customers.
“Universal adoption and the effective application of digital technology is expected to characterize economies of the future, shaping the ability to succeed in the global marketplace and offer a better quality of life for their citizens,” Makotoane said.
The team at Mouvee is looking to partner with business persons within the transportation industry, in its journey to provide exceptional service to commuters.
Makotoane explained that he highly thinks “Basotho will use the application because they seem excited especially those who have used such an app in other countries.”
He said the young generation has always wanted such a service in transportation.
The Mouvee App is currently available in major mobile application stores like Google Play and Huawei App Gallery.
