Angelo’s Frozen Food

By Seleoe Nonyane

From pre-cut vegetables to Angela’s Eatery to now Angela’s Frozen food, nothing can stop Khopotso Angela Makhetha from pursuing her dream.

Makhetha launched her frozen food two weeks ago. She produces frozen beef patties, frozen samosa’s and frozen chicken and mushroom pies which she basically makes from scratch.

Angelo’s Frozen foods are 100 percent halal which means no pork. The products life’s span is three months.

She took consumer studies in high school which she said that was the place where she learned a lot to grow her passion for food

“I studied consumer studies in high school and we were so privileged because we would not only do the theory part, instead the school would actually take us to institutions where we learned all these first hand.

“We were taught how to make lasagna sheets, macaroni and pastries from scratch like pizzas,” Makhetha explained.

Although she loved cooking she pursued a different career at the University of Pretoria. But that was short lived because she fell pregnant and was forced to head back home. She was reluctant to take care of her child at her age.

She was later admitted at the National University of Lesotho (NUL) where she studied Urban and Regional Planning.

However, she did not make it to the second year because of depression she experienced due to being a single mom.

In 2018 Angela opened up a shack in Roma where she cooked and sold food to the university students.

She abandoned the business because it was not making her enough money.

She later on ventured into another business, selling pre-cut vegetables but the business was also met with challenges and she was therefore forced to close down.

But hope was not lost as she later opened Angelo’s Eatery which has turned out to be a success. It is through Angelo’s Eatery that she was able to start the frozen food business.

Although it has only been two weeks since the launch of her frozen food. Makhetha was approached to supply for a local restaurant.

She can be contacted on the mobile number +266 58016314 for orders and deliveries. The business is located at Maseru East opposite Hi-Fi City.
