Rangoajane fights crime with tracking system

By Matṧeliso Phulane

Patrick Rangoajane’s company, Koetsa Tracking Systems has introduced a modernised Global Positioning System (GPS) to reduce distress from missing children and vehicles.

A GPS tracking system is a technology that uses satellite signals to determine the precise location of a vehicle, asset, person or animal in real time.

In an interview with theReporter, Rangoajane said he ventured into the business after he noticed the high rate of vehicle theft and the escalating cases of missing or kidnapped children.

He said the tracker can be used by anyone, including disabled people, the elderly and children.

“The main function of the vehicle tracker is to improve a car’s safety by providing its location if stolen. With the help of technicians and mechanics, we link the vehicle’s tracker to the owner’s phone so it can alert them to anything that happens to the car.

“The GPS tracker will find and recover the stolen vehicle or asset faster and then report to the owner immediately,” he explained.

The tracking system also enables the car owner to see where the vehicle is and the speed at which it is moving. This way, they will be having full access its activities.

The owner is also able to switch off the car if somebody else tries to re-start it, since the tracker notifies them with an alarm on the phone.

“When it comes to parents, it is often difficult for them to know where their children are all the time. They go through the pain of searching everywhere just to make sure their children are safe.

“To solve this problem, we invented GPS tracking devices to help parents keep tabs on their children at all times. This makes it easier for you to see where your kids are and what they are up to,” Rangoajane said.

He noted that a child can either wear the device around his neck to tug it in his school bag.

The GPS kids tracker is useful for keeping children safe. Parents can see where the child is and it also helps a parent to be alert when the child is out of the yard.

“The kids tracker locates a missing child since the tracking device is capable of finding the actual address of a person. Parents can also view the location using the tracking App or send a request to the tracking company for the tracking details.

“A parent can also call the tracking company to get information about what is happening to the child while at school. Besides that, a child can press a panic button on the tracker, to alert his parents that he is in trouble,” Rangoajane added.

Rangoajane was born and bred in Mpharane, Mohale’s Hoek.

He went to St Patrick’s High School where he completed his Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education in 2016 before proceeding to Limkokwing University of Creative Technology where he attained a degree in Human Resource Management in 2020.

His dream is for his business to grow beyond the borders of Lesotho in the next five years.
