Doctors urged not to strike

By Neo Kolane

The ministry of health has issued a strong warning to medical doctors who are mulling a nationwide strike starting from today over unpaid call allowances.

The director of health services in the ministry, Dr ‘Nyane Letsie, in a weekend statement said the doctors need to remember their oath to put the lives of patients before their needs.

Letsie also reminded the doctors that health services are meant to be given all the time without any disruption.

She further indicated that the intended strike is illegal.

“All medical doctors should report to work on Monday at 08:00am,” Letsie said, adding that the ministry will take legal action against those who fail to comply with this call.
