Young entrepreneurs appeal for funding

By Seleoe Nonyane

Partners in Seizo Glow (Pty) Ltd are looking to secure an investment of M140 000 to grow their business.

Established in 2021, Seizo Glow is a soap production company run by seven partners – six females and a male.

Talking to theReporter this week, Seizo Glow production director Boitumelo Makunyapane said the soap is made from Aloe Vera and coconut oils.

She said the soap soothes, moisturises, and protects the skin for 24 hours against germs. It is odourless and therefore tolerable to people who are allergic to fragrances.

The soap can be used on the whole body and it is recommended for children aged 10 and above.

Makunyapane said the seven partners do the bulk of the work, although they also employ three people from time to time when demand is high and there are a lot of orders.

She said this usually happens during the festive season and in winter, but they still haven’t quite figured out what causes the spike in demand during these times.

Makunyapane also noted that she is sensitive to products that have a strong scent hence the idea of creating something that she and other like her could tolerate.

“We teamed up with my partners with different needs and came up with a solution that could work for all our skin problems.

“For some, it is because they have skin problems such as pimples and acne, and that is how Aloe Vera came into the picture as we know that it is good for the skin,” she explained.

Makunyapane indicated that since the establishment of the product, the feedback they get from customers is mostly positive; even during the trial stage they received positive feedback from people who had been selected to try out the product for free.

The Seizo Glow production director said although the business is doing well, the biggest challenge is that the product has grown beyond their expectations and they struggle to meet demand.

They are unable to produce in large quantities to satisfy the demand because their machine is too small.

“Sometimes the machine gets too hot then we have to wait for it to cool off.”

Makunyapane further pointed out that to avoid complications, they do not go over a certain number of productions.

The company is seeking a total investment of M140 000 to buy new machinery.

She lamented that as young entrepreneurs, they struggle a lot because investors do not want to invest in a start-up business. This has forced her to compromise on a lot of things to ensure that she makes her dream come true.

The products can be found in Mokhotlong but the company has sales distribution agents around the country.
