African Caravan heads to Lesotho for landmark expo

MM Legacy Tour and Adventure International is set to host the African Cultural Exchange and Trade Expo 2025 in Lesotho, bringing together 25 African countries for a celebration of culture, trade, and entrepreneurship.

The groundbreaking event will run from 4 to 7 September 2025, with final venues in Maseru and Mokhotlong yet to be confirmed. The expo aims to foster unity among African nations through culture, business, and language while shining a spotlight on Basotho entrepreneurs.

In an interview with theReporter, managing directors Malaita E. Simelane and Kefuoe C. Maroma said the event was inspired by their travels across Africa, which revealed a pressing need for greater collaboration and cultural connection.

“Through this expo, we want to create a platform where African countries can come together, share heritage, and explore trade opportunities,” Simelane said.

Coinciding with Tourism Month, the expo will provide Basotho small and large-scale entrepreneurs with opportunities to showcase and sell their products. Cultural practitioners are also invited to perform traditional dances and recitations, including Mokhibo, Lithoko, Ntlamu, and Litolobonya. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to book stalls to display their goods.

A highlight of the event is the “African Caravan”, a convoy of buses and cars that will depart Nairobi on 18 August, traveling through several African countries before arriving in Lesotho for the expo’s grand opening.

Confirmed participants include Lesotho, South Africa, Eswatini, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Namibia, and Angola. Performances by Basotho children and Mokhotlong’s local talent are also expected to feature.
