Govt steps in to ease farming costs

Farmers in Mokhotlong, Qacha’s Nek and Thaba- Tsekawill receive agricultural inputs from government starting from August 11, 2025.

This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition, Thabo Mofosi, at a press conference held yesterday.

Mofosi said distribution dates for the remaining districtswould be announced soon.

He also noted that government would subsidisefertilizer costs by 80 percent and the costs of seeds and herbicides 70 percent to reduce the burden of agricultural costs on farmers.

“To access these supplies, farmers will be required to present an identification document, a confirmation letter from an agricultural extension officer, and a field number.

“For farmers in cooperatives, extension officers will assist with delivery of supplies to the designated locations, and the government will ensure free delivery to farmers’ local areas,” he added.
