Alliance hands over new police block to Ha Palama

Police at Ha Palama in Leribe district will no longer operate under cramped and inadequate conditions after Alliance Insurance yesterday handed over a new office block.
The handover is a major relief for officers who have been working in the area since November 2020 under makeshift arrangements, struggling with space shortages and limited resources.
Senior Assistant Police Commissioner for Leribe, Khethang Tenane, said the lack of proper facilities had long undermined service delivery.
He noted that before the new station was built, residents were served from Ha Lejone, a distance that often delayed police responses.
“Our officers were overwhelmed and under resourced. This facility will finally enable us to respond swiftly and serve the community better,” Tenane said.
Alliance Insurance’s Financial Director, Mohapinyane Taole, said the new building symbolises the company’s commitment to strengthening public safety and supporting the rule of law.
“The facility has been designed to provide a conducive environment for administration, operations, training and community engagement. We trust it will serve as a safe and dignified workspace for officers,” Taole said during the ceremony, handing the building to Commissioner of Police Borotho Matsoso.
Community leaders and residents welcomed the development, saying it would improve security and rebuild confidence in policing in the area.
