M-Pesa renews partnership with Maletsunyane Braai Festival

VCL Financial Services, the operator of M-Pesa in Lesotho, has renewed its sponsorship of the MaletsunyaneBraai Festival, extending its partnership with OTB Exclusive Events.

The collaboration has now spanned eight of the festival’s nine years, reflecting a shared commitment to creating opportunities for communities, supporting local enterprise and showcasing Lesotho to the world.

The longevity of the partnership has helped establish the Maletsunyane Braai Festival as one of Lesotho’s leading lifestyle and tourism events. It demonstrates the strong synergy between M-Pesa’s extensive reach and OTB’s locally developed entertainment and tourism platform.

In 2025, the festival attracted 4,495 attendees, who stayed for an average of three nights. Visitors travelled from several countries, including nations within the European Union and the United States, reinforcing the festival’s growing regional and international appeal.

Over the years, the festival has evolved into a platform that brings together music, food, adventure, tourism and local business, while creating economic opportunities for entrepreneurs, traders and communities in Semonkongand beyond.

By attracting visitors and stimulating local commerce, the event contributes meaningfully to livelihoods and economic activity in the region.

In a statement, VCL Financial Services said the partnership gives practical expression to its Changing Lives purpose by connecting people to opportunity and enabling them to participate in the economy through accessible, secure and convenient digital financial services.

By supporting a platform that promotes tourism, entrepreneurship and community development, M-Pesa is helping individuals and businesses transact with confidence, grow their livelihoods and improve their lives.

As the festival enters its ninth year, OTB Exclusive Events said it welcomes Vodacom M-Pesa’s continued confidence and support and looks forward to building on a partnership that has grown alongside the event itself. This year’s edition of Maletsunyane Braai Festival is expected to bring together thousands of festival-goers to celebrate Lesotho’s culture, natural beauty, entertainment and hospitality.
