IAL to celebrate India’s Independence Day

Staff Reporter

The Indian Association of Lesotho (IAL) will on August 15, 2023 celebrate India’s Independence Day in Maseru.

IAL president Biju Abraham Korah said in a statement today that the festivities will be held at Busy Bee English Medium School in Maseru West.

He said IAL was established in 1988 with the primary purpose of providing a cultural and educational platform for the Indian Diaspora in Lesotho.

“The association has been working selflessly to create, foster and promote co-operation, collaboration and social and cultural integration between the peoples of the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Republic of India,” he added.

IAL is a registered non-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian organisation.

India celebrates Independence Day annually on August 15 as a public holiday in India commemorating the nation’s independence from the United Kingdom on August 15, 1947.
