LNIG Hollard donates to SOS Children’s Village

By Seleoe Nonyane

The SOS Children’s Village in Maseru received M30 000 worth of foodstuffs from insurance company LNIG Hollard this week, through its environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) programme.

The head of sales and distribution, brand and marketing at LNIG Hollard, Liepollo Tsekoa, said this was the third time the company was donating food items to the centre.

Tsekoa said they support SOS Children’s Village’s vision that every child belongs to a family and grows with love, respect and security.

She pointed out that with food security also regarded as an important component of growing up, LNIG saw it fit to donate food to SOS.

“This is an annual initiative that LNIG Hollard has undertaken to donate food items to the school.

“It has been happening for three years and the company is committed to continue donating in the coming years,” she indicated.

She stated that the centre survives on donations and its international donors have reduced their donations. As a result, LNIG Hollard decided to take it upon itself to give a helping hand to the SOS community.

The SOS Children’s Village board chairperson, ‘Mateboho Makhesa, said that the donation will go a long way especially now that Christmas is fast approaching.

She revealed that now that they have received these donations, a portion of their budgeted funds will go towards other essentials such as purchasing Christmas clothes for the children.

Makhesa added that it felt like a heavy burden had been lifted off their shoulders as they had limited funds.

SOS accommodates a total of 253 children at the Maseru Village and in Quthing.
