Lesotho commemorates World Aids Day

By Matṧeliso Phulane

Lesotho today commemorated World Aids Day under the theme “Let communities lead”.

The event took place at Matsieng, with a fun walk from Mahloenyeng High School to Pitso House.

This year’s theme calls for a more robust engagement with different communities to ensure that countries meet the United Nationsultimate goal of ending Aids as a public health threat by 2030.

The United Nations 95-95-95 HIV target states that by 2030, 95 percent of people living with HIV should be knowing their status, 95 percent of those who know their status should be on treatment, and 95 percent of people on treatment should be virally suppressed.

According to 2022 reports, Lesotho has attained 95:91:98 on this target.
