Statistics strengthening programme launched

Government has launched a statistical component under the Equitable Lesotho Programme titled “Strengthening the National Statistical System.

Speaking at the event on Friday, statistician and Inter-Regional Adviser at the Partnership in Statistics for Development, Philippe Gafishi, said the initiative seeks to enhance participants’ understanding on the role of statistics in governance and development, implications for policy, accountability to support evidence-based planning, policymaking, and monitoring.

The launch sought to sensitise participants on key provisions of the Draft Statistics Bill and help them advance the objectives of the Equitable Lesotho Programme and broader strengthening of the National Statistical System.
