Mavele’s star shines bright

By Seleoe Nonyane

Halifele Khoeli, popularly known as Mavele is an MC, fitness instructor, motivational speaker and entrepreneur with an uncanny ability to make being an entertainment personality look easy.

He recently took centre stage at one of the biggest festivals in the history of Lesotho – the annual ‘Maletsunyane Braai Festival – as an MC and an aerobics instructor.

In an interview with theReporter, Mavele indicated that taking part in the festival was both an honour and testament to the fact that he has been doing a good job.

He noted that many of the revellers from the festival came from as far afield as South Africa and Botswana.

“Therefore, being able to impress people from outside the country is an indication that I am now ready to take on the international stage as well.

“I have been lording it as an MC and a dancer in the country since 2017. I have actually loved dancing for as long as I can remember.

“When I was in high school I realised I could mix my dance with MCing and that is how I started. After high school, I formed the Maseru Dance Academy where I teach dance and aerobics,” he recounted.

Mavele stated that he did not establish the academy just to teach dance, but to help people lead a healthy life through physical activities.

To demonstrate just how serious he was about his work, he went to school to learn to be a group instructor and personal trainer in 2017.

He, however, indicated it has not always been a walk in the park as some people did not understand how dancing and health mix.

“People did not understand that some kind of dancing can burn calories and people can lose weight by dancing.

“I have been able to pull through because I am driven by my love and passion for what I do. I juggle my busy life by planning my days well in advance and managing my time.

“Although some things just come up unplanned, I always know what to do and where I have to be at a certain time. My advice for aspiring entertainers is that they should have patience and believe in themselves,” Mavele said.

He noted that a lot of people easily give up, and added that they should know that things will not always happen the way they want and when they want.

“Things take time but, eventually, everything will fall into place,” he concluded.
