Sassy teen wins Sotho Kids pageant

It was a unique mix of culture, glitz and glamour when modelling agency Sotho Kids staged the Face of Sotho Kids pageant this past weekend, which saw vivacious 18-year old Kholu Mofokeng walk away with the coveted crown.

Kholu told this publication that she has numerous titles under her belt, but winning the Face of Sotho crown is the ultimate experience as she had for a long time wanted to join the agency.

“This is the most exciting moment in my life because I came out tops against highly talented and capable girls. It was not easy; it was never going to be easy, but I am glad I emerged victorious. I approached this pageant like many others before it, but I knew deep down in my heart that I wanted it more than anything else,” she said.

She admitted that the best she had hoped for was to make it to the top five, as winning seemed a far-fetched proposition even for her. She added she was inspired by her mom to enter the competition, who told her she would win if she was meant to.

“Like any other journey, it wasn’t easy; but I think when you do something with passion and love, you end up giving it your all. I think God is able to see your heart and how much you want something; that is what happened with me winning. God saw how much I wanted to win, and I won,” she cooed.

Others who received special recognition are Senate Seeiso-Maama – First Princess; Meisi Matsie – Second Princess; Pontṧo Lekhooa – Miss Popularity, and Fiona Makhetha – Top Model.

The founder and director of Sotho Kids, Makhebe Seatlana, said the event was a huge success and exceeded expectations.

“We learnt so many things from hosting this event, and we hoping next year it will be even bigger; it received massive acclaim from our supporters this year,” Seatlana said.
