Justice strategic planning workshop on

The Ministry of Law and Justice has embarked on a journey to shape the future of the legal landscape in Lesotho.

A three-day workshop kicked off in Hlotse, Leribe today, bringing together key stakeholders to develop the ministry’s five-year strategic plan for 2025-2030.

Speaking at the official opening, the Minister of Law and Justice, Richard Ramoeletsi, recalled that the current government decided to merge the ministries of law and justice, hence a need to formulate a strategic plan.

Ramoeletsi noted that in 2005 there was a notable attempt to reform the sector through the design of the national vision and strategy for the justice sector. This project was intended to harmoniSe and reconfigure the work of the justice sector institutions.

“However, the execution and delivery of the plan into tangible reform actions did not materialise and manifest within the sector as the strategy intended limited leadership and commitment of stakeholders to genuinely collaborate in advancing the reforms was cited as one of the reasons why the strategy was never implemented,” Ramoeletsi said.
