theReporter senior journalist, Neo Kolane, has done it again!
She was voted the best Political and Parliamentary Reporter of the Year at the MISA/Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) 2025 journalism excellence awardsceremony held in Maseru on Friday.
The awards were sponsored by RSL, the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority, Standard Lesotho Bank, and the United Nations Population Fund.
Kolane won M5,000 for her efforts.
Last year, she scooped the Business and Economy Reporter of the Year award.
The awards aim to recognise and reward outstanding reporting that fosters public understanding of different issues. They also seek to encourage better journalism by upholding high standards and ethics, recognising and celebrating the dedication and hard work of ethical journalists.
A delighted Kolane said the award came to her as a surprise as she did not expect to win again this year.
“I’m beside myself with joy. I hope this recognition will inspire me to work even harder and open doors for me,” she said.
She challenged other journalists to discard their fear of business and parliamentary jargon and go for it.“Sometimes we just need to face challenges head on and learn in the process.”
Managing director, ‘Mathapeli Ramonotsi, said the recognition is testimony that theReporter has grown to become a respected and authoritative news platform since its establishment in 2019.
“We could not have made it without the unwavering support of our esteemed advertisers and valued customers. Kolane’s award is remarkable. Such recognition is encouraging and an indication that we’re doing something right to publish a relevant newspaper,” she noted.
