Private labs ready to test people

By Neo Kolane

Multitudes of people are expected to cross in and out of Lesotho to run varying errands after Prime Minister, Dr Moeketsi Majoro, yesterday announced the easing of restrictions on international travel.

One of the requirements for crossing the border is a mandatory Coronavirus-free certificate, and Majoro indicated that private laboratories will be on hand to provide the service.

One such facility, PathCare will be providing international travelers with Covid-19 testing at a cost of M850, according to a nurse at the centre Moleboheng Mofolo.

The marketing manager of Elitepath Laboratory, Hamilton Harmans told theRerporter that they provide international travelers with SARS Covid-19 testing at a cost of M1,300 inclusive of swabbing.

“We provide results within 24 to 36 hours after sampling.”

Harmans emphasized that people do not necessarily need to go to a doctor especially if they are not showing any symptoms; they can directly go to Elitepath with no referral form and get tested right away.

“We have a centre at Maseru Private Hospital,” Harmans said.
