Basotho tested for Covid-19 at border post

People who enter the country are being tested for free at Maseru Bridge. Ever since Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro announced the easing of cross-border movement for business people, students and patients, many people have been left confused, as the travel requirements have been the subject of many different interpretations.

When theReporter visited the border post earlier today, we learned that Basotho who enter the country from South Africa are being tested upon arrival and await results at home.

This after reports on social media claimed that people were just crossing in and out without producing proof of their negative Covid-19 status.

An official at the border post explained that people leaving the country are still expected to produce valid results from a doctor, be it from a private or public clinic. She explained it is only people that enter the country that are tested, and the testing is free.
